Payment infrastructure is usually the last thing a growing technology company designs and the first thing that breaks when it goes international. At Web Summit 2026 in Lisbon, PayDo founder and CEO Serhii Zakharov will argue that the sequence should be the other way round.
His MoneyConf session, “How the World’s Biggest Companies Move Money,” takes place on 11 November from 10:40 to 11:05.
The argument rests on timing. Payment setups are rarely rebuilt when a business has room to breathe. They get rebuilt under pressure, during the quarter a company is entering a new market or onboarding a customer too large to lose, which is the worst moment to be migrating accounts and repeating compliance reviews.
“Nobody rebuilds their payment setup when things are calm”, – said Serhii Zakharov. “It happens in the quarter you are entering a new market, which is exactly when you have no capacity for it. Doing the same work a year earlier costs a fraction, and nobody notices it happened. That is the whole point”.
The session looks at what building early actually means in practice: how many provider relationships a company really needs, which capabilities are worth having before the business requires them, and how to tell whether a provider will absorb complexity as the company grows or hand it back.
Attendees can find the PayDo team at stand E451 across all four days of the event.
