The owners of a Semi-detached property in Brentwood were recently looking to carry out a loft conversion to their home.
They were also carryout out other notifiable works, namely the removal of a chimney breast to the lounge and first-floor bedrooms.
They came through to the Fixed Price Party Wall team and once we carried out the relevant plan checks and property ownership details we prepared and submitted the party structure notices to their adjoining owners.
The adjoining owners concurred in our appointment as an agreed surveyor and we arranged to inspect the neighbor’s property before works commenced and carried out a schedule of conditions report this formed part of the final Party Wall Award.
The building work was then allowed to go ahead. During the works the contractor was diligent and thankfully no damage was caused to the neighboring property and all owners remained happy and content.
This outcome is replicated in the vast majority of instances thankfully. But the protection a Party Wall Award provides to all owners cannot be overstated.
