Singapore is an amazing city with tall buildings, lots of green areas, and is a great place for people who love food. You can find markets full of affordable food stalls, including some that are so good they’ve won special food awards without being expensive.
But, staying in Singapore can cost a lot. Even though you can find cheap meals, the price for a place to stay can really use up your budget.
I’ve stayed in many hotels in Singapore over time. Now, I want to share with you my list of the best places to stay:
1. The Scarlet
This is a very cool four-star hotel in Chinatown, which is my favorite part of the city. The hotel is in old buildings from the 1800s and has a bright red outside. Inside, it’s decorated with bright colors and comfortable furniture. There’s a place to eat and drink on the roof, a hot tub outside, a place to work out, and a French bakery for fresh pastries in the morning.
The rooms are fancy with colorful furniture and special beds. The bathrooms are big, the beds are comfortable, and you can even pick your type of pillow. The rooms have TVs, desks, free snacks and drinks, cozy bathrobes, and tea/coffee makers. If you’re looking for a good place in Chinatown that’s not too expensive, this is it.
2. KINN Capsule Hotel
Capsule hotels are a must-try in Asia. They’re like a fancier version of hostels. KINN is one of these hotels near the Quays area. It’s very clean, simple, and you get a small free breakfast. There’s also a place for snacks, coffee, and tea for free, a shared lounge, laundry, and a rooftop with a great view. You also get to go to fitness classes for free and get discounts on a workspace nearby.
The capsules have air conditioning, comfy beds, a little shelf and mirror, lights, privacy blinds, and plugs. You also get a locker for your stuff. The shared bathrooms have big showers with good water pressure and free toiletries. If you want a bit more privacy, they have private rooms with their own bathrooms. This is a great way to save money but not stay in a hostel.
3. Park Royal Collection Pickering
This fancy five-star hotel is known for being green. They collect rainwater, use solar panels, and have gardens and living walls everywhere. There are free classes like yoga and Zumba, an outdoor pool, a gym, and a few restaurants. The breakfast is extra but really good. The hotel is right next to a train station.
The rooms are big with a modern look, light wood, neutral colors, and big windows. They have a big desk, a TV, a minibar, fancy bathrobes, and nightstands with plugs. The bathrooms are also big with a great shower and a tub. They even have a special tap for drinking water. Stay here for a unique and fancy experience in the middle of Chinatown.
4. Santa Grand Hotel
This three-star hotel is near East Coast Road and Joo Chiat, where you can find street art, shops, and cafes. The rooms are small and simple but have a free minibar, a TV, and a desk. The bathrooms are a good size and have either a shower or a tub. Some rooms have balconies or skylights.
There’s a beautiful pool on the roof and a place to eat and drink. They don’t serve breakfast, but there are lots of places to eat nearby. This is a good choice if you want a simple place to stay in a less touristy part of the city.
5. York Hotel
This four-star hotel is close to Orchard Road, which is famous for its shopping. York Hotel has a big pool, a place to work out, and a restaurant that serves a big breakfast every day.
The rooms and bathrooms are a bit old but big, which is nice in a crowded city like Singapore. The rooms have a minibar, coffee/tea maker, chairs, a desk, and cozy bathrobes and slippers. This hotel isn’t super fancy, but it’s a good deal for staying in the center of the city.
