Talk to Yourself in a caring way… Learn to take care of yourself

How important is self-care?

Whenever asked “How you doing…? Without even thinking we say “very well’’. How many of us even think deep down, whether we are really doing well? Self-care is usually neglected and may not even be considered a thing until we start observing the consequences.

Humans are social animals; we cannot survive solitary. To actively be part of any gathering we need self-caring first. If we are not happy and content, we will never be able to give our best to others. It all starts from within and it all starts from you.

Self-care is about your physical, emotional, and mental health. If we are able to take care of ourselves, automatically we’ll be able to take care of our surroundings and loved ones, it’s all-natural.

Here are a few tips that can help you take care of yourself from inside out.

Start your day with a smile. No matter in what circumstances you are, just smile. Training your brain to stay positive in every situation is a must and smile helps the most.  It sends signals to your brain that everything around you is fine.

Exercise: Add a physical workout to your routine. Yoga, breathing exercises, walks, meditation, etc. helps you take care of your body mind and soul. It prepares you well to face the world and challenges of life.

Drink water: Usually, while working or while taking care of our family we forget to keep ourselves hydrated. Our body contains 60% water therefore, we should not neglect its importance and take frequent water breaks. It keeps you energetic, fit and helps you glow.

Healthy diet: Nutritious and a healthy diet is a must to lead a strong and fit life.

Rest: We are not machines and therefore, we do not need to work 24 x 7. Give proper rest to your body. Good 8 hours’ sleep is a must and should not be compromised for anything. Anytime in the day, you feel exhausted, stop and rest. Regain your energy and give yourself time to recharge.

Follow your passion: Add something that you love in your routine. Be it cooking, dancing, singing, painting, gardening, playing an instrument, etc. It keeps you refreshed and motivated.

Be good to yourself: Do not be harsh on yourself. Don’t crib over your mistakes and learn to forgive yourself easily. It is just you who can help yourself at the end of the day, so be caring. Accept yourself the way you are. Love yourself and appreciate yourself, don’t wait for others to acknowledge.

Learn to say ‘NO’: At times it is okay to say ‘no’ to things that do not appeal to you. Don’t exert yourself over such things. It may seem hard in the beginning but acknowledge your feelings. It is not worth it if it’s hampering you in any mental or physical way.

Self-care is really important nowadays, especially when we are all stressed with so much work, competition, and pressure around us. The above tips may help you take care of yourself on a regular basis. Still, if you ever feel exerted by your life or lifestyle, you should take a break and go on a vacation, start a book, cook for yourself, pamper yourself as much and refuel
