Techniques to Improve Your Video Testimonials

Video Testimonials

If someone has purchased the product we plan to buy, we like to know what the user feels about it. This is the basis for making the video production, we bring the news of the product to the viewer.

Unlike any commercial advertisement where the company highlights the features, in the video testimonial an actual user talks to the viewers about the product. So, how do we make a customer video testimonial and what are the ways to improve it?

Relate to the Audience

The customer looks at the audience in the eye when he or she is giving the testimonial. He doesn’t talk philosophy, he tells things as they are. He tells why he bought the product and what his position is now. Of course, he loves it but that is another story.

He wants to tell the audience what kind of problems he went through before he discovered this product. This is where you bring home the bacon. This punchline has to be authentic, told in a simple manner, and bring out a positive emotion in the viewer.

Use High-Quality Recording Equipment

The quality of the video matters. The viewer will want to watch things that are beautiful and glamorous. If the video is shoddy, the viewer will change the channel or turn off the television. Also, good equipment has more features such as timer and filter that an ordinary video camera might not have.

Make the Video Sound Natural

Reading out a script is all right if you are making a movie. But, in a video testimonial, people relate to what is being said. So, even if you have a script, do not read it out. Keep the words in mind and make up the words as you go along.

This will help preserve the natural feel of the video. People do not like to sit and listen to propaganda. But, they like it when they hear something about a product they plan to buy. So, keep it that way, an opinion that comes from an actual user.

Avoid Promotional Content

A video that is promoting a product will sound stilted, it is better to aim to make a testimonial video where the customer answers a list of questions. You will be editing the content but try to leave some degree of uncertainty in the manner of the answers.

Those watching will also know that they watch content curated content but they will not realize it so much if there is not much of promotional content.

Answer the Question

Make sure your testimonial video answers the question about why you need the product. If you are getting your clothes dirty and need a detergent to wash them, tell viewers how the product cleans and preserves the clothes.

If you promote an engine oil, tell them how cars run better with your engine oil. Keep the storyline pointed at this point always so that the viewer will understand the motive behind the video and relate to it.

Make your video testimonial the reason, the solution to the problem. Keep it simple and reasonable, people will then relate to both the product and the video.
