Washington, (MARKETTOTO) – US Minister of Foreign Affairs, Antony Blinken or the name of the United States government wishes him a happy 79th Independence Day of the Republic of Indonesia, on Saturday, August 17 2024.
“On behalf of the United States, I convey my congratulations to the Indonesian people on the Independence Day of the Republic of Indonesia,” said Antony in a written statement. As the US and Indonesia celebrate 75 years of bilateral relations, Antony emphasized remaining united in the same goals, namely advancing democracy, respecting the supremacy of law, and friendship between the people of the two countries.
Marking a historic new chapter in bilateral relations between the two countries, President Jokowi and President Biden upgraded US-Indonesia relations to a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership last November. Apart from that, Antony also congratulated the elected president Prabowo Subianto in the 2024 elections.
“I congratulate Minister Prabowo Subianto on his election as the next president and look forward to working together to expand cooperation on various issues of mutual concern, including fostering peace and security in the Indo-Pacific, overcoming the climate crisis and the clean energy transition, encouraging sustainable development, upholding human rights protection, and advancing Indonesia’s digital transformation,” said Blinken. Both bilaterally and through US engagement with ASEAN, the United States will continue to partner with Indonesia to promote stability and prosperity in the Indo-Pacific region.
