Unlocking Website Insights: The Best Tools to Check Website Traffic
Share on FacebookShare on Twitter

If you’re a website owner, blogger, marketer, or anyone who wants to know how well a website is performing, checking its traffic is crucial. By understanding a website’s traffic, you can gain insights into its popularity, reach, and engagement levels. Fortunately, there are several tools available that can help you check website traffic.

SimilarWeb

SimilarWeb is another popular tool that provides comprehensive insights into website traffic. It offers data on website traffic, audience demographics, referral sources, engagement metrics, and more. One of the unique features of SimilarWeb is its ability to estimate the total number of monthly visits to a website, which can be useful for benchmarking against competitors. SimilarWeb offers both a free and a premium version, with the premium version providing more advanced features such as historical data, industry benchmarking, and custom insights. It also offers a browser extension that allows you to quickly check the traffic of any website while browsing the internet.

SEMrush

SEMrush is a popular all-in-one marketing toolkit that includes a traffic analytics tool. With SEMrush, you can track the traffic of any website, including the number of visitors, their geographic location, engagement metrics, and more. You can also compare the traffic of multiple websites side by side and track changes over time.

SEMrush also provides other valuable features such as keyword research, backlink analysis, and competitor research, making it a comprehensive tool for website owners and marketers. It offers a free version with limited features and a premium version with more advanced capabilities.

Alexa

Alexa is a web analytics service that provides insights into website traffic, engagement, and audience demographics. It offers a range of features, including the ability to track global and country-specific rankings, competitor analysis, and audience overlap with other websites.

One of the unique features of Alexa is its “Site Overview” tool, which provides a snapshot of a website’s performance, including its global rank, regional rank, and engagement metrics. Alexa offers both a free and a premium version, with the premium version providing more advanced features such as historical data, keyword analysis, and content research.

Ahrefs

Ahrefs is a popular SEO tool that also offers a traffic analysis feature. With Ahrefs, you can track the organic and paid traffic of any website, including the number of visitors, their geographic location, referral sources, and more. You can also track changes in a website’s traffic over time and compare it with competitors.

Ahrefs also provides other SEO-related features such as backlink analysis, keyword research, and content analysis, making it a comprehensive tool for website owners and marketers. It offers a free version with limited features and a premium version with more advanced capabilities.

Checking website traffic is essential for understanding a website’s performance and making data-driven decisions to improve its reach and engagement. There are several powerful tools available, such as SimilarWeb, SEMrush, Alexa, and Ahrefs, that can provide valuable insights into website.

All of these options have their benifits and I have used them all at one time for another but as a web design agency owner my favourite is ahrefs. We use this traffic information to determine a websites size before we take on website hosting projects.
