The FDB-16R Outdoor Fiber Optic Distribution Box is a compact, expandable enclosure for protecting and scaling fiber optic splices, splitters, connectors and customer drop cables in outside plant deployments. With capacity for 16 subscribers, the FDB-16R simplifies fiber distribution to accelerate fiber-to-the-home rollouts.
Applications
The FDB-16R is designed for passive optical LANs, gigabit-capable PONs, next-generation hybrid fiber-coaxial (HFC) networks, and fiber-to-the-premises (FTTP) access architectures requiring weatherproof fiber distribution hardware. Its IP65 rating withstands UV radiation, temperature swings, humidity, rainfall dust, pollution, and corrosion in uncontrolled ambient environments.
Inside the FDB-16R, splicer technicians can mount optical splitters to efficiently apportion feeder cable capacity up to 16 ways to multi-tenant buildings, residential clusters, or business complexes. Fiber splice trays neatly organize and mechanically protect fiber core alignments and fusion splices between the distribution cable, splitter pigtails, and customer drop fibers. Angled adapter panels simplify service activation.
This blend of splicing, splitting and connection makes the compact FDB-16R suitable as an access point creating flexible fiber connectivity suited to passive optical access topologies. Its sealed tamper-resistant housing accelerates deployment by securing essential network components.
Specifications
The FDB-16R features a durable polycarbonate plastic housing and offers IP65 protection against dust and liquid ingress. Its 287 x 172 x 100mm dimensions enable strand, wall or pole mounting using included stainless steel brackets.
Inside the enclosure, eight 16-fiber splice trays give technicians substantial capacity to mechanically protect fiber core alignments using heat shrink splicing sleeves. Below lies a section for mounting micro splitters and routing pigtails. Front-facing angled panels provide connectivity and slack storage for up to 16 customer drop cables through sealed grommets.
Bottom panel cable glands allow pass-through of a distribution cable, sealing of thinner branch cables, and individual sealing around drop cables. Unused ports feature removable seals to maintain protection.
